Gordon HUNG
Foundation President 1986/90

Mr Hung was a third generation Australian of Chinese ancestry. His grandparents were market gardeners in Melbourne. He worked as a journalist in Asia and Australia before becoming a public relations practitioner.

He was very active in the public relations field and in 1979 he became Victorian President of the Public Relations Institute of Australia. He helped lay the foundation for the degree course in public relations in Victoria. He also became active among company directors in the late 80s and initiated and ran regular briefing update sessions for the Australian Institute of Company Directors in Melbourne. He was an Institute Fellow.

He was first elected Secretary of CPBA from 1977-79, then again from 1981-86 before becoming President. He helped establish the FCA, the Chinese Restaurateurs Association, CPBA Phoenix Trust Foundation, and worked with the Ararat Heritage Society in commemorating the Chinese founders of this Victorian city. He led the CPBA delegation to the 2nd World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in Hong Kong.
