Chin Leong Tan

Chin was born in the Year of the Pig in Malaysia and has a B.A and LL.B. from ANU in Canberra. He is a senior partner with Kennetan Pty, a city based law firm. He has had extensive involvement in politics and community issues.
Chin has broad experience and involvement in the legal profession, business and community service. He is a lawyer by profession and was admitted to practice in 1987. He is a Consultant with the Property and Construction Team of Gadens Lawyers.
During his career, he has developed a strong practice in the Commercial and property areas. Chin regularly acts for and advises foreign investment clients.
He is a recognised leader of the Melbourne Chinese community having served as Secretary of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Victoria) and two-term President of the Chinese Profession and Business Association of Victoria and various other committees.
Chin is committed to active involvement in the political process, holding numerous senior positions.
He is a Commissioner of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and a member of the Police and Community Multicultural Advisory Committee and has served on various committees within the City of Boorondara. He also represents the Victorian government in the Steering Committee overseeing a Centenary joint project with CEDA on Immigration and the Victorian Economy.
Chin regularly accepts speaking engagements on topics such as Multiculturalism and the Chinese Business Networks.
He is a Fellow of the Williamson Community Leadership Group and a member of the Hawthorn Football Club.
Chin is married and has two young children.
