The Chinese Professional and Business Association (CPBA) celebratedtheir 40th Anniversary with a Gala Dinner at the iconic and majestic Windsor Hotel in Melbourne on 23rd August 2014.

The guests enjoyed the evening with entertainment from Her Majesty, The Queen, Dame Edna, MC Leonie Collins, Living Tables, Max the Magician and the Carneval Strings Trio.

Our Platinum Sponsor, Helen & Joey Estate Wines, gave a bottle of their wonderful Pinot Noir (awarded 96 points from James Halliday), as a prize on every table.

Our other Platinum Sponsor,Vahé Fine Jewellery, donatedan exquisite diamond ring that was auctioned in a Very Special Auction of One Item. Proceeds went to CPBA’s Charity Partner, International China Concern (ICC).

No gala dinner would be the same without a raffle draw – prizes such as a Night at a luxurious Windsor Suite, NespressoCoffee  machine, Apple iPad Mini, and lots more!

But the coveted prizes of the night werethe Living Centrepieces. These centrepieces were goldfish bowls with goldfish – a gold fantail and a blackmoor. In the Chinese culture, these fish signify joy and good luck. So, to conclude the evening of celebration, everyone was asked to look under their chair to find the winning ‘ticket’ which was a small pot of fish food with instructions on how to look after the fish. The winners, of the fish, will continue to receive joy and good memory.

This event was not only fun to organize but fun for the guests.

There has been no other event quite like this in the history of the CPBA.

I am honoured to have been a part of this milestone occasion and to be among the wonderful company of the CPBA community – Thank you, CPBA.
